Burlington Street Bluegrass Band performs high energy, traditional and original bluegrass music, featuring exquisite instrumental solos and vocal harmonies.
In 2004 some of Iowa’s most treasured bluegrass musicians were brought together by Iowa and Mike Finders to jam for the sheer joy of playing together. That jam gave birth to Burlington Street Bluegrass Band, with the band and their 15-year residency at Iowa City’s legendary venue The Mill becoming favorites of the Iowa City scene. When Finders left for Colorado in 2008, BSBB carried on with their dedication to performing authentic bluegrass music. Now in their 22nd year, BSBB continues to feature the best of the eastern Iowa bluegrass scene, featuring local greats Joe Peterson (mandolin), Mark Wilson (guitar), Paul Roberts (banjo), Marc Janssen (fiddle), and Brandi Janssen (bass). BSBB delights audiences around the Midwest, whether they are sharing concert bills with the likes of Del McCoury Band and Asleep at the Wheel, traveling the Midwest to perform at theatres and festivals, or playing local Iowa City music clubs and concert series. The group performs a mix of traditional bluegrass, country, original music, and fiddle tunes, bringing nearly two hundred years of collective experience to the stage.
